Thoughts of the President
We are now only a few months away from our 7th Pan Commonwealth Veterinary Conference in Bangalore 3-7 March 2019. On behalf of the CVA Executive Committee, Regional Representatives and Councillors, I would like to sincerely thank our Past President, Dr Abdul Rahman and the Indian Team in Bangalore, Karnataka, for their exceptional hard work in finalising a wonderful Scientific Program and arrangements for this exciting event http://www.pcvc7conference2019.com
I would also like to report to you on the recent 20th Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations (FAVA) and 18th Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA) conference. It was hosted by IVMA and held in Bali from 30 October to 4 November 2018 with a theme of ‘To serve mankind through the Animal Kingdom”.
I was a guest of FAVA in my role of CVA President and able to briefly address the 40th Meeting of the FAVA Council to talk about CVA work and invite everyone to PCVC7 next year.
There were many invaluable presentations including the importance of food security in the Asian region and the concern of African Swine Fever. By early November, the disease had travelled from the north of China to Yunan in Southern China with very high mortalities recorded. http://fava2018.id/event/page/39/congress-overview
I would like to thank our CVA Executive Team for their ongoing amazing voluntary contributions to our important organisation during 2018 and wish everyone a special 2019. I would also like to extend my best wishes to everyone celebrating the upcoming festive season.
