19th Asian Regional Meeting and Conference
The Commonwealth Veterinary Association will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary during 2017 and as part of this Golden Jubilee celebrations is organizing various events and conferences throughout the Commonwealth. One such event was the 19th Asian Regional Meeting and Conference which was held at Hassan Veterinary College KVAFSU,Karnataka, India from February 24th to 25th,2017. The Theme of the Conference was “Control of Zoonotic Diseases –A One Health Initiative”.
An ambitious Scientific Programme had been prepared to include pathogenic zoonotic diseases such as Rabies, Leptospirosis, Avian Influenza, Japanese B Encephalitis etc. and other topics also included the impact of Vector Borne diseases, Parasitic Zoonosis and viral haemorrhagic fevers. Internationally and nationally reputed scientists from United Kingdom ,USA, Sri Lanka, and India participated in the conference. This conference was supported by Karnataka Veterinary Association and Association for the Prevention and Control of Rabies in India(APCRI).
More than 250 delegates from the state of Karnataka and elsewhere from India participated.
Prior to the conference a Workshop on Rabies Diagnosis was organized at the CVA/KVAFSU/CRUCELL Rabies Diagnostic Laboratory,which has now received OIE Twinning status with Animal and Plant Health Laboratories, (APHA)UK and Centres for Disease Control(CDC)Atlanta,USA. Twenty delegates from all over India participated. The training was imparted by scientists from APHA and CDC.
